Landscape Architecture Design and Its Levels
By Sam Cyrus

Landscape architecture design is a knowledge which is now comprised of many disciplines. It is also broken up into two basic parts. Things like physics, many facets of engineering, a working knowledge of many different pieces of construction equipment and not to mention a good eye for design and contrast are some of the disciplines you need for landscape architecture design.

You can make everything in landscape architecture design work for you so perfectly. However, if the final product doesn’t look like what the client wants it to be, then you have just wasted your time and your client’s time. So there is a lot to learn to be a successful landscape architecture design professional. There is also a lot of schooling and real world experience that goes into becoming a successful landscape architecture design professional.

The first thing you should do before you even start with all of the book learning and field experience that goes into landscape architecture design is to decide what your discipline will be. It means that you need to decide whether you will be getting involved in residential landscape architecture or commercial landscape architecture.

It is a sure thing that there is a difference between the two. And while there is a lot of overlap as far as the things you need to know in order to be proficient in both of them, the fact is that doing landscape architecture design for homes is quite different than doing landscape architecture design for businesses.

When you deal in residential landscape architecture design, you are dealing

heavily in looks over substance. In other words you need to make all of the parts of the project functional. But in the end the homeowner is going to want to add value to the property by using your landscape architecture design skills. In commercial landscape architecture design, there is a larger emphasis on making the project functional over looking pretty.  It is definitely two different worlds.

Spend Some Time In Both

Spending some time in both residential and commercial projects is definitely the only way you will ever really know where your heart lies is. This is also to find which one really strikes your fancy. It would be in your best interest to determine where you want to focus as they can be so different from each other in so many ways. In this way you can be sure to get all of the correct information you need while you are studying. Since the field work is critical, it is important to get as much field experience as you can prior to setting out on your own landscaping career. In the end you will be the master of landscape architecture design.
