The Function Of Landscaping Bushes

Landscaping bushes are a decorative and also functional part of your garden or home landscape. These landscaping bushes come in many varieties that can grow from just a foot tall to about several feet high. These shrubs can also be evergreens, flowering or even bear some sort of fruit. The key to landscaping bushes is to regularly trim and maintain them for presentation and function.

Types Of Landscaping Bushes

One beautiful kind of bush is the Golden Duranta otherwise known as Golden Dewdrop. This bush has light yellow foliage that turns dark green when there is little sun exposure and bears small berry-like fruits when mature. It can tolerate not being watered for some days but they thrive well when watered daily.

Ixora is another beautiful flowering bush that can attract butterflies. There are many different varieties of this plant with many different colored flowers. The more common flowers are orange and light yellow.

The Gold Lantana is another great species of landscaping bushes. It has bright yellow flowers that are very showy and flowers almost all year round. It is however a low growing evergreen shrub so you can not expect it to grow too high, maybe just up to three feet.

Uses Of Landscaping Bushes

These bushes or shrubs are usually used as a perimeter fence, for semi privacy, formal hedges and to emphasize a particular structure. As a perimeter fence, landscaping bushes that can grow quite high

are best for this function. Even if you do not allow them to develop great height, at least they have the capacity to do so when the need arises. Some people do mind having a perimeter fence that is only an average of three feet tall.

If using landscaping bushes for semi privacy, you might want the kinds of bushes that grow tall enough to partially hide you and your home from view. Many landscaping bushes have the capacity to grow an average of ten feet tall when left to grow. Formal hedges on the other hand are more for aesthetic display than any other reason. These types of landscaping bushes need to be constantly trimmed and maintained to keep looking their best.

Landscaping bushes can also be used to emphasize a particular structure. Some fountains and statues may be surrounded with bushes to add to their beauty.  Some homes also use these landscaping plants to grow under windows to keep peeping toms and other undesirable characters from peeping into the home.
