Tricks For Landscaping Small Spaces

Landscaping a small space can be tricky; you don’t have a lot of place to do all the things you want so you need to be selective about what you do. You can’t do too much or risk overwhelming the space you have. When you want to embark on landscaping small spaces you need to think of how to maximize the space you have and to get the most out of what you plant. It may surprise you to know that the colors of the flowers you choose can affect the space in your yard.

Benches

Having a garden bench or seat is always nice but in a small yard this can take up too much place. If you already have a tree in the yard that is taking up space then use this to get a garden seat. Build a wrap around tree bench. This is a great way of a landscaping a small space. You get a seat without taking up much space at all and it looks great.

Color Design

Use cool colors such as blues, violets and purples to make the space seem bigger. It may surprise you how using these colors can alter the space or perception of space. These cooler colors will also affect the mood of people in your garden. People will feel more calm and relaxed when these colors are used.

Colors such as reds, violets and pinks will excite the senses and tend to make spaces look more intimate. Although suitable for big areas these warmer colors are

not suitable for landscaping a small space. You may choose however to combine the colors to inject some bright colors while still utilizing the cool colors.

Containers

Containers are very important in landscaping small spaces. Using flowerbeds is a great way to get around a lack of space. You can build raised flowerbeds in small yards to attract attention without sacrificing space. The types of containers you use are key to creating space in your garden.

Use unusual containers such as tiered pots or hanging pots to add color without actually using more than one area of the garden. You can also have a small or partial trellis with creeper plants. This will create a cozy and very pretty area in the garden without much effort. Utilize windowsills and steps if you can without overcrowding. With small spaces sometimes less is more, so be careful not to go too overboard.
